Never thought moving is such a tough job, I only spared a week to prepare for the move. Big mistake!! Thanks to my mom and dad, who helped us tremendously during the entire process, we torn down wallpapers in 2 bathrooms and the kitchen, repainted all bathrooms, kitchen, and the two bedrooms. We have to paint the bedrooms three coats since we have colored paint before. Loading everything onto the truck was tough too, but we did such a great job that nothing, literally, moved at all during the whole 10 hour drive from Florida to Virginia. Dear hubby did such a great job driving the big ass truck.
We did have a little episode when we first entered Virginia. It was around 9ish, and we figured we are this close to the new home, it won't hurt to take a break in the Virginia welcome center. We all got out of the car or truck, stretched a little. Our baby cat Zoe has been such a good kitty, slept most of the trip, although she did cry quite a bit in the beginning. Since hubby has been driving the truck alone, he wanted to spend some time with Zoe during the break. We had a leash on Zoe, so we figured it won't be a problem if we put her on the grass for sometime. However, with all the soaring vehicles on the highway, Zoe was scared to death, and as soon as we put her on the grass, she quickly rolled out of the leash, and disappeared under the truck. We are all shocked!! First we thought she will just hide under the truck somewhere, as she used to do that when we took her out in our complex. Four of us are on our knees, looking under the truck, nothing!! Now we are getting scared. The thought that we may never find her gave me goose bumps. It was getting darker, and mom and dad are searching the surround areas. However, nobody saw her run outside somewhere. Flash lights became really handy as hubby went underneath the truck, and sure enough, the scared baby Zoe was hiding up on the front axle. She was all greasy and dirty.
So many feelings rushed in during that short half an hour or so. Most of all, the joy of getting her back makes everybody teary-eyed. Zoe was so scared, and she quickly went hiding under the sofa as soon as we carried her inside our new apartment. It took her 3 days to get out from under the sofa, and another 2 days to completely clean herself. As much as I hated the whole moving idea, she suffers the most I guess. My poor little baby.
